1. Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.

2. Own at least one handgun to put on the permit.

• Due to SB2 you a cannot put a spouses handgun on ccw.
• The handgun must be registered to you at the time of putting it on the permit and application.
• You may change the handguns on the permit up until you qualify.
• Handguns will not be able to be changed after qualification and approval until renewal after 2 years.
• Ventura County allows up to 5 handguns on the permit.

3. Satisfy residency requirements.

• You must be a full time resident living in Los Angeles County.
• You must provide 2 proof of residency i.e. cellphone, bank statements, water, trash or power bill etc.
• P.O. boxes are NOT ACCEPTED

4. Be of good moral character.

5. Pass criminal background checks including a Live Scan.

• Have no felonies or certain misdemeanors on record.
• Not addicted to any drugs.
• Not be subject to a temporary restraining order or have been subject of a protective order.

6. Not be diagnosed as mentally ill or been admitted to a psychiatric facility within the past 5 years.

7. Satisfy all federal requirements.

• Must not be prohibited from owning, receiving, or purchasing a firearm.

8. Reasons for issuance of permits is no longer required in Los Angeles County.

• Putting “Self-Defense” is acceptable on reason for CCW on form.
